Counselling Services
A Safe Place to Find Hope, Healing and Direction
Life's challenges can often feel overwhelming, especially in communities where violence, poverty, substance abuse, unemployment, family conflict and trauma have become part of everyday life. At the First Community Resource Centre (FCRC), we believe that no one should have to face these challenges alone.
Our Counselling Services provide individuals, couples, families and young people with a safe, compassionate and confidential environment where they can speak openly, receive guidance, and begin their journey towards healing and restoration.
Whether someone is experiencing emotional distress, struggling with family relationships, facing uncertainty about their future, or simply needs someone to listen without judgement, our team is committed to providing practical support, encouragement and hope.
Our Counselling Services Include
We offer counselling and guidance in a wide range of areas, including:
- Trauma and crisis counselling
- Youth counselling and mentorship
- Marriage and relationship counselling
- Family conflict resolution
- Grief and bereavement support
- Emotional and spiritual counselling
- Career guidance and life planning
- Financial and personal life challenges
- Substance abuse support and referrals
- Parenting guidance and family strengthening
Every person's circumstances are unique, and our counselling approach is tailored to the individual's specific needs and goals.
Qualified and Caring Counsellors
Our counselling services are provided by experienced and compassionate professionals, including qualified Social Workers, our Youth Pastor and Senior Pastor, who have many years of practical experience working within the Hanover Park community.
When specialised intervention is required, FCRC partners with qualified professionals and trusted organisations to ensure that individuals receive the most appropriate level of care and support.
Confidential and Respectful
We understand that seeking help can be difficult. Every counselling session is treated with the highest level of confidentiality, dignity and respect.
Appointments are scheduled in a private and supportive environment where individuals are free to share their concerns without fear of judgement.
To assist our counsellors in understanding each person's circumstances, new clients are asked to complete a confidential assessment questionnaire before their first appointment. This helps us identify the most appropriate support and develop a counselling plan tailored to their needs.
Individual and Group Support
Healing often happens through meaningful relationships and shared experiences. Depending on individual circumstances, we provide:
- One-on-one counselling
- Group counselling and support sessions
- Family counselling
- Referrals for specialised therapeutic services
Where appropriate, emergency counselling sessions can also be arranged for individuals experiencing an immediate crisis or traumatic event.
Walking the Journey Together
At FCRC, counselling is not simply about addressing immediate problems—it is about restoring hope, strengthening families, empowering young people, and helping individuals discover practical solutions that lead to lasting change.
Every conversation is an opportunity to rebuild confidence, restore relationships and create a healthier future for individuals, families and the wider Hanover Park community.
"You don't have to face life's challenges alone. At FCRC, we are here to listen, support and walk the journey with you."
